Glenda Guerrero v. City of La Verne
Vivian Rivera and Chris Faenza defended West Coast Arborists, Inc. in what was expected to be a 5-week trial in Pomona, California.
Plaintiffs, a family of four, sued both the City of La Verne and West Coast Arborists after a limb broke off a tree at a city-owned park in September of 2020. The limb allegedly weighed several hundred pounds fell several feet before striking an 11-year old girl in the head.
Plaintiffs demanded $10 million, arguing that the girl sustained a traumatic brain injury and developed PTSD from the accident. Both the City and WCA denied liability and further disputed the nature and extent of Plaintiff’s injuries.
After one week in trial, Plaintiffs opted to fully dismiss their complaint against West Coast Arborists.
